Program description:
Performance management (PM) remains an important organizational process for cultivating performance gains for individuals and teams. Recently, scholars and practitioners have questioned the value of PM. In this talk, Dr. Gorman will report the results of an initial study that takes a fine-grained approach to the study of the relationships between specific components of PM systems and organizational outcomes. A particular emphasis of these findings is to identify high-impact PM practices (HIPMPs). Results suggest that organizational performance can benefit from certain PM practices but also that human resource executives’ perceptions of the overall PM system moderate these effects. Dr. Gorman will discuss implications for practitioners and scholars, and offer several areas for future collaborations on the topic of PM and organizational performance.
